Our Mission In Practice

The mission of Countryside Montessori School is to provide an environment which emphasizes the development of character, particularly the virtues of Respect, Responsibility, and Resourcefulness.

Respect is a person's worth or value.

Children will:

  • Interact with peers, parents and adults with common courtesy.
  • Recognize the authority of their parents and other adults in whose charge they are placed.

Parents and teachers will:

  • Set clear, consistent and age-appropriate limits at home, at school and in public.
  • Model the manners and courtesies of our culture at home, at school and in public.

Responsibility is recognizing the obligation to answer for one's actions.

Children will:

  • Recognize needs within a community and take action to solve problems.
  • Participate actively in the care of themselves and their environment.
  • Contribute to the greater good at home and at school.

Parents and teachers will:

  • Provide clear, timely and honest communication.
  • Create and sustain safe, nurturing environments for learning.
  • Define and clarify appropriate goals for children at home and at school

Resourcefulness is the ability to think independently and act assertively.

Children will:

  • Develop independent problem-solving skills.
  • Collaborate with peers and adults to direct the course of their day.

Parents and teachers will:

  • Share time with children diligently and in creative ways.
  • Provide children with responsibilities sufficiently general and difficult as to require resourceful effort on their part.
